Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty Performance

Feed back is an assessment and evaluation process that periodically documents and demonstrates the degree to which the objectives are achieved. It is taken at the end of every semester from all the students to identify the shortcomings in various areas like quality of teaching, standards of students, opinions on various issues regarding infrastructure and other amenities provided to students. It also identifies if there is any pressure from faculty. The evaluation is done immediately by the committee (Principal and Heads of the Department). The process of evaluation includes interpreting the data along with the evidences accumulated through assessment practices. Evaluation helps to determine the extent to which measures have to be taken for achieving Program Outcomes or Program educational Objectives, and results in decisions and actions to improve the same.

The institute adopts an open door policy where all faculty and staff are given free access to the authorities. Any issue, may it be academic or non academic can be brought to the respective Head of the Department, and if required he/she would forward it to the Dean and Principal for further study and solution. If the issues are not resolved at this level, it is directed to the Forum of Grievance Committee setup at the college level.

Students

To ensure safety to the girl students a student representative is elected, who addresses the issues and directs them to the Women Cell. Every class has a Teacher- in- charge to handle the issues of that division. Also, a Guardian Teacher is provided for every batch (22 students) who conducts a meeting every month, and Minutes of the meeting is also recorded along with the issues raised by them. If the issues require greater attention, the same is taken to the HOD and Principal for further discussion and action. Parents are informed about their attendance and performance every month.

Anti Ragging Committee

As per the directives of Hon. Supreme Court & UGC/MHRD’s Regulations all the students filled an online Anti Ragging Undertaking and a copy of the same is submitted to the college. In addition to this, an affidavit is taken from both the parent and student during their F.E admission. Also, anti ragging committee is setup to protect students from any kind of harassment. The institute shall punish a student, if found guilty of ragging, after procedural enquiry. The same is informed to local police for further action.

The institute has implemented the Teacher Guardian Scheme for the students from first year itself. The main aim of this scheme is to encourage students to interact with the faculty members at personal level. This helps them in the initial stages of their studies to overcome the burden of new subjects. The departments organize counseling sessions and provide inputs about various competitive and allied examinations such as GATE, CAT, GRE, TOEFL etc. They also organize lectures through experts in the respective field of specializations in particular and the field of interdisciplinary spectrum in general. This also facilitates students in search of better prospects in the industrial and the academic career.

Apart from the academic support, a full time counselor is available in the campus to address both personal and academic issues. Counselor does individual counseling of students recommended by the Heads of departments. Lectures are also organized by the counselor for even faculty about mentoring students highlighting the issues received during the personal interactions.

 

Mentoring

 

Mentoring is designed to provide personal and professional support to an individual. The mentoring relationship provides a developmental opportunity for both parties and can thus be of mutual benefit.

To keep pace with the current technological trends and to sharpen their skills various seminars and conferences are organized by the institute throughout the year where the experts are invited  from the industries like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Service, Larsen and Toubro and other organizations like IBB Chemicals, Career Consultancy, GEEBEE and NIIT, etc. Although there are many such activities, few of them are mentioned below.

A seminar was conducted on Employability Enhancement and  Career Opportunities in JAVA by SEED INFOTECH on 04/08/2017.

A  Workshop on Robotics  was conducted by RROBOCART on 07/09/2017.

A  Workshop on Corporate Communication  was conducted by RROBOCART on 03/08/2017.

Hands-On Android workshop  was organized by computer department on 20/01/2018

 

Industrial visits were arranged for B.E. Civil Engineering students.

 

Medical facilities

 

The institute provides first aid package to all the departments for providing first aid in case of emergency. Apart from this, the institute has got the tie up with Modi Hospital located barely at a distance of 300 meters from the institute whereby the hospital shall extend the helping hand in case of emergency.

There is enough medical facility available in the nearby vicinity of the institute. There are two hospitals/ dispensaries run by NMMC near institute. Apart from this, there are many private hospitals/ nursing homes in Airoli node providing the general medical facilities.

Students Activity Body 

 

It all starts with nominating the General Secretary, Cultural Secretary and the Sport Secretary depending on the overall performance along with their academics. Every department has their own Students’ Association namely- EESA(Electronics Engineering Students Association), CATT (Computer Association for Technological Trends), ACES (Association of Civil Engineering Students), GITS (Group of Information Technology Students), SOCHE (Students’ Organization of Chemical Engineering), FOMES (Forum of Mechanical Engineering Students) wherein the students’ representatives are elected by the students of their respective branches.

Sports ASports Activity:
The institute has a play ground of 1.8 acres and has a facility for outdoor games like Cricket, Badminton, Volley Ball, Football and indoor games like Carom, Chess, Badminton, etc.
A faculty member is designated as the Sports in-charge.
Every year the institute conducts various tournaments during sports week for the students as well as staff.

E-Cell:   Members of Entrepreneurship Cell, DMCE successfully started their own startups. ENSPIRE 2016, was organized where eminent speakers were invited from companies like Thermax Instrumentation, Mirraw.com, Testbook.com, Techsa Services along with an Independent Practice Lawyer to address the students. Students attended The Open House organized by The Rodinhoods, and E-Summit 2016 organized by E-cell IIT Bombay.
