AI & Data Science Engineering
Artificial intelligence and data science are emerging branches of engineering and technology influencing industry, academics, and research. The objective of this course is to train skilled AI and data science professionals. AI and data science are not confined to a specific industry, and they will have the liberty to work in the areas of their interest. The main areas where data science and artificial intelligence professionals are in demand are medicine, space, robotics, automation, marketing, information management, military activities, and many more.
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to any human-like intelligence exhibited by a computer, robot, or other machine. In popular usage, artificial intelligence refers to the ability of a computer or machine to mimic the capabilities of the human mind. Artificial intelligence has grown to be very popular in today’s world. As technologies such as AI continue to grow, they will have a great impact on our quality of life.
Data is now the most valuable resource in the world. Data science (DS) is an emerging field of science that has multiple aspects—for one, it studies and examines a huge amount of data; for another, its branches extend into almost every field. Data science is founded on statistics, mathematics, and programming language. Artificial intelligence encapsulates the concepts of all three fields and acts as the brain of data science. Data science uses techniques, procedures, algorithms, rules, and tools from all three of these components and works as a unified mechanism to solve the complex problems that arise in the world around us.
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI-DS) undergraduate engineering course was started by the institute in July 2021 with an intake capacity of 60 seats, and it has now increased to 180 seats as of July 2024.

"Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science!
Launched in the academic year 2021-22 with an initial cohort of 60 students, the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science swiftly expanded its capacity to 120 seats from the academic year 2022-23 and subsequently to 180 seats from academic year 2024-25. This interdisciplinary program delivers in-depth knowledge across the pivotal domains of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS). Graduates are well-positioned for a multitude of career paths and substantial professional growth, including roles such as Business Intelligence Developers, AI Engineers, Big Data Architects, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Application Developers, and Software Architects, among others.
Our department's motto is to deliver exceptional education and empower students to analyze, design, and implement innovative AI/ML-driven solutions for complex problems across diverse sectors. Students will find their skills highly applicable in fields like healthcare, e-commerce, climatology, social media, and transportation.
Our faculty is dedicated to pioneering advancements in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. We actively encourage faculty members to engage in national and international workshops, conferences, and research publications. A key focus is on fostering professional integrity, ethical conduct, and social responsibility among our students. We provide comprehensive technical support for students participating in national and international competitions and Hackathon. Furthermore, SHAIDS (Students Hive of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science), our dynamic student association, spearheads various technical and non-technical events, including technical assessments, group discussions, and seminars on cutting-edge technologies.

- PEO 1: Imbibe, learn and apply the skills and processes of AI and DS and related domains to develop intelligent machines, software solutions meeting the local and global needs.
- PEO 2:Cultivate lifelong learning skills to enable Students to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies in Artificial Intelligence and Data science and its allied domains.
- PEO 3: Positively contribute at various levels towards successful implementation of multi-disciplinary projects with effective communication and collaboration among the team members keeping legal, moral and ethical values in back-sight.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
- PSO 1: Ability to design and develop intelligent practical solutions using the logical and computational skillsets acquired in the domains of Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences and other allied fields.
- PSO 2: Ability to meet the Data Science requirements of analyzing and mining of huge datasets, further applying the data science methods to recognize the under-lying patterns and correlations to facilitate decision making at various levels in any organization thereby enhancing the business aspect involved.
