Chemical Engineering
( NBA Accredited Program )
Established in 1999, the Department of Chemical Engineering has grown into a center of academic excellence. The department is accredited by NBA for the period 2023–24 to 2025–26, reflecting its commitment to maintaining high standards in technical education.
The department is supported by a team of experienced faculty members, and all of them hold PhDs. Their expertise spans diverse and advanced areas such as Membrane Technology, Petrochemical Technology, Environmental Technology; Biotechnology etc. ensuring students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical insights.
To enhance hands-on learning, the department is equipped with six modern and well-maintained laboratories. It also integrates advanced simulation tools like DWSIM and Aspen Plus into the curriculum, enabling students to develop strong process modeling and simulation skills relevant to industry requirements.
Students are encouraged to gain real-world experience through internships and industrial training at reputed organizations such as Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF), BARC, HPCL, Reliance Industries, and other leading companies. These opportunities help bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practice.
The department maintains strong industry connections through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with organizations like RCF Mumbai and several other industries. These collaborations facilitate technical interactions, industrial visits, and skill development programs.
Faculty members actively contribute to professional bodies such as IIChE, ISTE, and IIE, staying updated with the latest advancements in the field. Additionally, student-driven organizations like the Student Organization of Chemical Engineering (SOChE) and the IIChE Student Chapter organize technical events, workshops, seminars, and competitions, fostering overall student development.
With a strong academic foundation, industry exposure, and active student engagement, the department has consistently achieved an excellent placement record, particularly in core chemical industries.
Our Vision

Hearty welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering at Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Airoli, Navi Mumbai. The course leading to a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering was started in the year 1999. The department has evolved since then with leaps and bounds in terms of faculty expertise, infrastructure, and quality of education and student performance. The department is a vibrant place with 09 full-time academic staff from reputed institutions, including IIT and ICT Mumbai, and dedicated supporting staff (all faculty are PhD holders in their respective fields of specialization). The Department of Chemical Engineering is NBA accredited for three years, i.e., from academic session 2023-24 up to 2025-26.
The BE Chemical Engineering program is an excellent blend of fundamentals of chemical and allied branches combined with practical skills that are essential to begin professional careers after graduation. Our students are exposed to practical problems through the department’s 06 well-equipped laboratories, including the software laboratory for advanced computations and simulations using software.
Industrial tours and in-plant training are arranged in reputed chemical firms for our students every semester to link classroom teaching with working chemical plants. A variety of workshops, guest lectures, and webinars on emerging topics in chemical engineering and career progression are arranged for students. Reputed firms visit our campus to recruit the graduating engineers like NOCIL, Jacobs Engg, ICB Technimont, Toyo Engg, Apar Industries, Randstad Technology, etc.
Students play a major role in the department's activities too. Students participate in various cultural, sports, and technical competitions held at various institutes spread across the state. The department has active students’ chapters, namely IIChE (Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers) and a department professional body named Students’ Organization of Chemical Engineers (SOChE), which are actively engaged in various technical and social activities. The department fosters our students' participation & guides them to excel in various events organized at IITs and other reputed institutions.
I wish chemical students pleasant and successful four years in the department!
