Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1993 for the undergraduate course. The master's in mechanical engineering with a specialisation in CAD/CAM and robotics was introduced in 2011. The department has approved the research centre for the Ph.D. programme recognised by the University of Mumbai.
The department has well-equipped laboratories and an in-house computer centre with 3D modelling and computational software such as AutoCAD, IDEA, ANSYS, Creo, LabVIEW, and Visual Basic. The department has a well-equipped workshop with advanced machines like CNC turning and milling. Various sponsored projects from professional institutions like ASHRAE are undertaken for the indigenous development of the test rigs' facilities. Apart from the central library, the departmental library has more than 600 reference books for the students and faculty.
Departmental student chapters include ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), and IIIE (Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering). The student organisation, the Forum of Mechanical Engineering Students (FOMES), regularly conducts various technical events.
The experienced faculty and staff of the department made remarkable strides by involving themselves in academic activities like conducting various faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and industry interaction programmes. Faculties have grabbed the research grants from the University of Mumbai.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has MOUs with leading & reputed industries like RCF and CAD Centre. The department has professional body membership with ISTE and IIIE. Students have also qualified for many national and international-level examinations such as GATE and GRE. Students are encouraged to participate actively in various sports & cultural activities together with some important technical events. The department alumni students are extending guidance and support in guest lectures. The students of mechanical engineering have been placed in many reputable companies.

Our Vision
To endure viable mechanical engineering education that generates self-sufficient and motivated engineers with abiding aspiration to serve the country with universal affinity.

Our Mission
- M1: To deliver capable and creative mechanical engineering graduates of global standards through classroom teaching and laboratory practices.
- M2: To ensure that students are equipped with entrepreneurial leadership, communication skills and ethical values required for engineering professional and society.
- M3: To establish hubs of excellence in evolving areas of mechanical engineering directing to enrich R & D activities.

Dr.(Mrs.)Rathod Usha Mansing
Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering
Welcome to our Mechanical Engineering Department, established in 1993, offering B.E. and M.E. in CAD/CAM and Robotics since 2011 and a Ph.D. program since 2013. Our highly qualified faculty and industry-oriented curriculum equip students with engineering knowledge and multidisciplinary skills.
We organize various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and our associations with professional student chapters enhance technical and professional skills. The Forum of Mechanical Engineering Students (FOMES) hosts technical events, while research and development activities are promoted by both faculty and students.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
- PEO 1: To impart basic and advanced concepts of engineering & technology, design analysis and implementation skills to innovate the system in Mechanical engineering at large.
- PEO 2: To develop social awareness among the students related to engineering ethics and human values.
- PEO 3: To initiate the entrepreneurial activities and leadership qualities to become professional mechanical engineers leading to a successful career.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
- PSO 1: Execute the fundamental knowledge of Mechanical Engineering to fulfill the problems of society and Industry.
- PSO 2: Build and analyze basic and advanced Mechanical systems by implementing sound knowledge of modern tools and techniques.
- PSO 3: Select the spirit of entrepreneurship with strong leadership quality and ethical attitude for motivating self-employment.
